| Safe-Rides Saves Lives
- Traffic accidents are the Number One cause of deaths in America for young people under 34.
- More than half of those between 5 and 32 years of age killed in traffic accidents die as a result of alcohol-related crashes.
- Over 30% of the fatally injured 16-to-20 year old drivers were intoxicated.
- Alcohol-related fatal accidents are three times more likely to occur at night.
Eight young people die each day in alcohol-related accidents.
Safe-Rides creates awareness among young adult students of the danger of driving while intoxicated. We provide transportation home for young adult drivers under the influence of alcohol or drugs or those who might be uncomfortable with their current ride or are in a no-ride situation. We also create a service opportunity for youth (14-21) in high school and college.
